January 17, 2025City council members propose that suggestions be called for from city residents regarding the city's services
The city council group (Borgarstjórnarflokkur) of the Socialist Party of Iceland submits the following proposal to the city council (borgarstjórn) on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. The meeting can be followed electronically here: https://reykjavik.is/borgarstjorn-i-beinni or attend in person in the City Hall and follow along. The city council meeting starts at 12:00 PM. Proposal to call for suggestions from city residents regarding the city's services It is proposed that the city's suggestion website be advertised with the aim of seeking to receive suggestions from residents about what can be improved in the city's services. Or if there is something particularly positive that could be enhanced. The goal will be to send a message that the city council wants to hear from city residents and to widely publicize how messages can be conveyed. Subsequently, the comments received will be systematically processed so that city council members can review them. At the same time, it will be widely advertised how suggestions can be submitted by mail if the person concerned prefers this over electronic solutions. It is proposed that this be a special initiative that initially lasts for one month, e.g., that it be well advertised before February that the project is starting and suggestions collected once the month has passed. The Human Rights and Democracy Office (Mannréttinda- og lýðræðisskrifstofu) and the Service and Innovation Department (þjónustu- og nýsköpunarsviði) will be tasked with managing the project and assessing how best to advertise it. Advertisements for the project and the user interface will be in several languages. Responsible departments will be tasked with assessing whether to use the city's current suggestion website or if a different system is needed to receive suggestions.
