May 26, 2022The Socialist Party's City Council Group
The Socialist Party's City Council Group (Borgarstjórnarflokkur Sósíalista) met this morning to discuss future work and priorities. City councilors Sanna Magdalena Mörtudóttir and Trausti Breiðfjörð Magnússon, and deputy city councilor Andrea Helgadóttir, form the Socialist Party's City Council Group, where the focus will be on economic and social justice. The Socialists look forward to the work ahead. The Socialist Party of Iceland (Sósíalistaflokkur Íslands) received 7.7% support in the elections and two elected representatives, which is an improvement from the last elections where the party had 6.4% support and one representative. The party is a movement that will focus on bringing the voices of low-wage earners, immigrants, tenants, retirees, disabled people, and other marginalized groups, and be a channel for their struggle into the city council.
