May 26, 2022Socialist City Council Party
The Socialist City Council Party met this morning to discuss the work ahead and priorities. City councilors Sanna Magdalena Mörtudóttir and Trausti Breiðfjörð Magnússon, and alternate city councilor Andrea Helgadóttir, form the Socialist City Council Party, where the focus will be on economic and social justice. The Socialists look forward to the work ahead. The Socialist Party of Iceland received 7.7% support in the elections and two elected representatives, which is an improvement from the last elections where the party had 6.4% support and one representative. The party is a movement that will focus on bringing the voices of low-wage earners, immigrants, tenants, pensioners, disabled people, and other disempowered groups, and being a channel for their struggle into the city council.
