The membership registry is the party's circulatory system

The membership registry is the heart and circulatory system of Sósíalistaflokkurinn. The party is first and foremost its members; the work of the party is what the members are engaged in. All members of the party should have received an email with a request to review and update their registration. Those who have not seen the email should check if it ended up in their spam folder or was lost for other reasons.

The party's membership registry will be used in various ways in the future:

Firstly, members will be randomly selected from it to work in policy groups. The policy groups that will start work this summer will address healthcare, housing, community fund issues, and the democratization of society. More details about the policy groups are discussedhere.

Secondly, the membership registry can connect socialists who want to work together in groups based on residence, age, trade union, etc. Within Sósíalistaflokkurinn, for example, there is growing interest in strengthening work within the labor movement. And due to the continuously worsening situation in housing matters, we want to ask members to register their status in the housing market so that information can be gathered from members and connect them in actions and demands for improvements.

To ensure that the people selected for policy groups have access to the best possible information, it is important that party members who possess important information in these areas (healthcare, housing, community fund issues, and the democratization of society) request to meet with the groups to share their knowledge or experience. People who are interested in building up socialist work in their locality, their trade union, or forming a group of socialists around actions on specific issues can also send an inquiry to sosialistaflokkurinn@sosialistaflokkurinn.is and thereby connect with other socialists in a similar situation or with an interest in the same issues.

The membership registry of Sósíalistaflokkurinn will be built up slowly but surely over the coming months and years. From within it, members will connect to the work of the party and be able to follow along. All members of the party are encouraged to review their registration as soon as possible.
