Guðmundur Hrafn Arngrímsson is the lead candidate for the Socialist Party of Iceland in the Northwest constituency.

The Election Committee (Uppstillinganefnd) of the Socialist Party of Iceland has nominated Guðmundur Hrafn Arngrímsson, chairman of the Tenants' Association, as the lead candidate for the Socialist Party in the Northwest constituency.Guðmundur Hrafn is a father of five, originally from Reykhólasveit and Árneshreppur on the Strands, but raised in Bolungarvík. He pursued secondary education in Akranes before moving to Copenhagen to study landscape architecture. In recent years, Guðmundur has primarily worked on turf and stone masonry, along with consulting on landscape design.Since 2021, he has been the chairman of the Tenants' Association, working diligently to draw attention to the poor conditions and circumstances of tenants."Neoliberalism in economic management and societal organization has been thoroughly tested. Its pillars are crumbling like never before, as insecurity, fear of destitution, and despair greet a large group of our fellow citizens at dawn every single day. Such circumstances create chronic and health-damaging trauma for the entire family, leading to various difficult trials that hinder both their freedom and social welfare. The Socialist Party has developed a progressive and credible policy on all major public interest issues, with the goal of creating social, financial, and cultural justice for all residents of the country. We need to ensure that security and welfare are paramount to create a healthy and cohesive society. The Socialist Party rejects fear, division, destitution, or decline as the path into the future, as ruling parties in Icelandic politics have diligently worked towards for more or less this entire century."Guðmundur Hrafn says it is an honor to work to gain support for the Socialist Party's policy in his home region in the upcoming parliamentary elections. He says he knows the constituency well and has been fortunate enough to have both worked and resided in numerous regions within it. Among its biggest interests are that welfare services, education and employment policy, transport, housing issues, and resource utilization meet the needs and demands of the residents for stable communities built on human dignity, equality, and individual respect.
