January 8, 2022Masterclass in activism: Hörður tells his story
The Socialist Education Commune is hosting many new lectures and courses this spring semester. The first one starts at 2 PM on Saturday, January 15th and is calledMasterclass in activism. It works by having one activist every other Saturday tell their story of struggle, experience, and goals, and what impact the struggle has had on themselves and society.Hörður Torfason, actor, singer-songwriter, and activist, is the first lecturer. On January 29th, there will beSema Erla Serdar, on February 12thSóley Tómasdóttirand then other activists every other Saturday until spring.
The courses take place at Bolholti 6, the community center of Vorstjarnan, and online, with presentations and discussions broadcast by Samstaðan. People can therefore come to Bolholti while space allows or follow along on Samstaðan.
Political and all societal struggle is personal. Activists themselves become a weapon and a tool to gain attention and direct it purposefully towards success. The best way to understand one's own struggle and assess one's position is to reflect on those who have fought and achieved success. These lectures and discussions are therefore empowering for people who want to make a difference and participate.
Those who wish to participate on-site or online should register their attendance for the event on Facebook here:Masterclass in activism: Hörður Torfason
