Outcome of the General Assembly of the Socialist Party of Iceland 2025

On May 24, the General Assembly of the Socialist Party of Iceland was held. According to the party's statutes, the General Assembly has the supreme authority of the party and is authorized to vote on amendments to the statutes and is obliged to elect board members. In addition, all members can submit proposals for adoption. This is a summary of the results. The number of group members was large, including a queue out the door to get in. A side room had to be set up where the Zoom meeting was broadcast because the main hall was completely packed.

The party's board in 2024 approved the services of an electronic voting service in Iceland calledOutcome kannanir ehf. This was done to ensure timely and anonymous voting related to the membership register. A technician from the company was on site to provide guidance and assist with the conduct of the elections.

Five amendments to the statutes were submitted andcan be read about here. As the first and fourth amendments to the statutes contradict each other, the fourth amendment was voted on first, because if it were approved, it would change the party's statutes regarding the Confidentiality Council (Samviska).
