January 20, 2018Newly elected boards; the Policy (Málefnastjórn), Membership (Félagastjórn), and Executive (Framkvæmdastjórn) Boards
At the Socialist Congress (Sósíalistaþing), three boards of the Socialist Party of Iceland (Sósíalistaflokkurinn) were elected; the Policy, Membership, and Executive Boards, a total of 39 people.
The Executive Board
The Executive Board is responsible for the daily operations of the party, oversees the website and promotional matters, manages the party's finances, maintains the membership register, and shall collect minutes and other documents regarding the party's decisions and activities between general meetings. Its members are: Ásgerður Jóhannsdóttir, Birna Eik Benediktsdóttir, Gísli Pálsson, Guðrún Margrét Guðmundsdóttir, Gunnar Smári Egilsson, Hákon Sveinsson, Margrét Pétursdóttir, Sanna Magðalena Mörtudóttir and Viðar Þorsteinsson and alternates: Jón Bragi Pálsson, Katrín Baldursdóttir, Laufey Ólafsdóttir and Valdimar Andersen Arnþórsson.
The Membership Board
The Membership Board operates 'cells' which members in a specific residential area automatically belong to. The Membership Board activates, supports, and shapes the work of the Cells as appropriate. The Membership Board members are: Amy Clifton, Arnþór Sigurðsson, Ásta Dís, Guðbjörg Pálsdóttir, Guðmundur Arngrímsson, Luciano Dutra, Oddný Margrét Stefánsdóttir, Sólveig Anna Jónsdóttir and Þórður Alli Aðalbjörnsson and alternates: Ásdís Helga Jóhannesdóttir, Anna Þórsdóttir, Benjamín Júlían and Guðbergur Egill Eyjólfsson.
The Policy Board
To support the party's policy-making, the Policy Board operates, and it is responsible for implementing policy-making work between Socialist Congresses and on its behalf. The Policy Board appoints randomly selected groups of members who draft policies in specific policy areas. The Policy Board members are: Anton Jóhannesson, Bogi Reynisson, Hallfríður Þórarinsdóttir, Haukur Arnþórsson, María Pétursdóttir, Sigríður Fossberg Thorlacius, Sigurður H. Einarsson, Símon Vestarr and Sylviane Lecoultre and alternates: Ása Lind Finnbogadóttir, Friðrik Boði Ólafsson, Guttormur Þorsteinsson and Þorvar Hafsteinsson.
