January 12, 2025Unchanged policy between governments
No fundamental policy change can be found in the policy statement of the government of the Social Democratic Alliance, Viðreisn, and the People's Party. When looking at the current policy and the agreement of the outgoing government, it can be seen that it is more or less the same policy in housing affairs, public finances, and foreign affairs. The Socialist Party of Iceland (Sósíalistaflokkur Íslands) reiterates the importance of making the state treasury's revenue generation more equitable in order to support the changes needed in Icelandic society. The living standards of the nation will not be improved solely through solidarity on these tasks, as stated in the government's policy statement; rather, revenue must be generated from the wealthiest into common funds to be able to offer improved living standards. Such is an absolute minimum to be able to run a good society and ensure general welfare in the country.
