form of list selection for a membership meeting in the spring. Therefore, item Fcandidacy, elected representatives, the Election Committee and the Election Committee from the party's structure. In addition, minor changes are proposed to the section on Eligibility for Board Membership, which allows board members of one of the party's boards to sit as observers at meetings of other boards.

the Election Committee

The Election Committee (Kosningastjórn) manages the Socialist Party of Iceland's candidacies for parliament (Alþingi) and local councils, and is responsible for selecting candidate lists using methods approved at a general meeting or membership meeting, formulating an election strategy based on the party's policies, and running election campaigns for parliament and local councils.

Candidate lists must be approved by the Socialist Congress (Sósíalistaþing) or a membership meeting, and the election strategy by a joint meeting of all the party's boards. The Election Committee can form sub-groups and -committees to handle election monitoring, election management in individual constituencies and municipalities, and other groups as needed.

The Election Committee shall manage political debate on the party's website, train the party's spokespersons, organize political meetings, and engage in discussions about the Socialist Party of Iceland's policies and priorities on a broad platform.

The Election Committee is elected at the Socialist Congress and shall consist of 9 main members and 4 alternates. It divides its own tasks but shall include a chairman, vice-chairman, and secretary.

When forming the Election Committee, it is permitted to elect a provisional board at the 2024 general meeting, which is tasked with shaping the work and submitting proposals for the form of list selection for the membership meeting in the spring. The 2024 general meeting will define the mandate of the provisional board upon its election.

  • Paragraphs on Ministries and Government Offices and Candidacy, elected representatives, the Election Committee and the Election Committee were removed from the party's structure.
  • In the article Eligibility for Board Membership, there was one and a half sentences: On the one hand: ... or in individual project boards or groups that fall under boards. On the other hand: An elected board member of one board can attend meetings of other boards as an observer.
  • The article is then as follows:

Eligibility for Board Membership A member can at any time only sit on one elected board (the Executive Board (Framkvæmdastjórn), the Membership Board (Félagastjórn), the Action Committee (Baráttustjórn), the Policy Board (Málefnastjórn) or the Election Committee (Kosningastjórn)). A member's seat on an elected board does not exclude them from sitting on a randomly selected board (for example, the Confidentiality Council (Samviska), the Election Committee (Kjörnefnd) or Policy Groups) or in individual project boards that fall under boards. Nor does sitting on one randomly selected committee exclude sitting on another randomly selected committee. However, a committee member of the Confidentiality Council must recuse themselves from discussions about disputes to which they are a party, and the Confidentiality Council shall decide whether it is necessary for the person concerned to withdraw entirely from the committee. An elected board member of one board can attend meetings of other boards as an observer.

Each member shall not serve as a main member and alternate for more than twelve years on each board and not serve as chairman of each committee for more than eight years. A member who is not eligible for one board for these reasons is still eligible for other committees.
