Outdoor meeting: We support the struggle of low-wage women

Low-wage women who clean hotels in Reykjavík will begin a one-day strike on the morning of March 8, on International Women's Day. Let's show our solidarity in action and meet them at Lækjartorg at noon that day, Friday, March 8 at 12:00 PM; let's slip away from work or skip it, show support for this struggle. Women's struggle is class struggle and class struggle is women's struggle.

Economic independence is a prerequisite for women to enjoy the fruits of the women's struggle of recent decades. The low-wage policy keeps a large group of women down, oppresses them and deprives them of their freedom.

Activists will address the meeting: Sólveig Anna Jónsdóttir, chairman of Efling, Anna Marta Marjankowska, board member of Efling, Zsófia Sidlovits, shop steward for hotel maids, Halldór Sævar Guðbergsson, vice-chairman of the Icelandic Federation of Disability Organizations (Öryrkjabandalagið), and others. Come with yellow rubber gloves on your right hand to raise a fist and thereby support the demands of low-wage women for equality and equity.

The meeting starts at 12:00 PM and will finish at 12:45 PM. It is peaceful and child-friendly, spirited and warm.

The weather forecast is clear skies, cool and calm; winter calm in Reykjavík.
