January 19, 2019The Socialist Workers' Council (Verkalýðsráð sósíalista) begins operations
At a general meeting of the Socialist Party of Iceland, held on January 19, 2019, it was decided to establish the party's workers' council (verkalýðsráð). At the meeting, members were asked to volunteer for the work, and the following resolution was adopted:
SOCIALIST WORKERS' COUNCIL
The following people have volunteered to establish a workers' council within the Socialist Party. The general meeting therefore entrusts it with fostering discussion on labor issues within the party and attracting members and others to that discussion, and proposing to the next Socialist Congress (Sósíalistaþing) how labor discussions and activities should be organized within the party. Meetings of this preparatory group will be held at Borgartún 1, 2nd floor, on Monday evenings at 8 PM. All members of the Socialist Party are encouraged to attend the meetings of the workers' council and participate in its development.
