Statement from the city council group (borgarstjórnarflokki) of the Socialist Party of Iceland

The city council group of the Socialists received this morning an account from a woman who says Daníel Örn Arnarsson, the party's alternate city councilor, has subjected her to serious sexual violence. In light of the woman's account, the city council group of the Socialists requested of Daníel that he resign as alternate city councilor. Daníel agreed to this and has sent out a notification of his resignation. Anna Wojtynska, who has served as alternate city councilor during Daníel's sick leave, has thereby become the first alternate city councilor of the Socialist Party.
